Learn, Practice and Develop the Essentials of Breathwork

Learn, Practice and Develop the Essentials of Breathwork

June 30 – July 13, 2024

Led by senior advanced yoga teachers Gill Breetzke and Daniel Stringer

Overview:

This is an excellent program to immerse in the essentials of a full somatic approach to breathing practice – build and develop your breath-to-prānāyāma practice, and cultivate a meditation practice, with time given to āsana practice (body posture), both dynamic with vinyāsa and restorative.

This course can be used as one of the 50-hour modules of the Advanced TT 300-hours certification. It also serves as a Yoga Alliance 50-hour Continuing Education Credit. Its real purpose is to serve your practice and understanding of yoga, whether teacher or an interested student of yoga.

Program Detail & Approach:

The aim of this program is to give you a developed practice in the breath by a team who have been doing this for over 20 years. Cultivate a mature practice that you can do yourself, anywhere. There is an emphasis on learning the somatic techniques of breath and prānāyāma, establishing a meditation practice, and going further with both dynamic and restorative approaches to āsana – a full somatic approach to understanding the breath.

Practice times are every morning and afternoon with workshop explanations in the afternoon covering:

  • Understand how the breath moves in the body and how you can support it
  • Learn and practice the regulated breath at the base of all breathing exercises
  • Develop a well-thought-out breath practice
  • Learn the specific details of certain prep kriya techniques that influence breath
  • Develop your breath practice routine
  • Additional attention to Meditative technique practice and understanding
  • Coverage of your questions relating to all aspects of yoga & breath practice

A Typical Day:

Morning practice involves meditation into breath practice, breathwork training, kriyas and basic Prānāyāma methods. For those that wish to engage in more yoga practice Engaged Dynamic Āsana, alternating between guided class with instruction by the teacher to self-practice, is offered. The afternoon program will be divided into breath and meditation practice and theoretical explanation so all your questions are answered regarding how breathwork works and how breath is trained.

Gill Breetzke

Gill was born in South Africa, and has lived abroad in the UK, Ireland and Asia. She began her international teaching career, working in Inner city London schools, supporting children from challenging backgrounds, then on to Dublin and Yangon. Koh Samui is now her home where she combines her love of yoga and music in this unique transformational place. She began her daily practice of yoga in 2004, training with Paul Dallaghan and Richard Freeman, and is Yoga Alliance (500RYT) and 1100 hour Centered Yoga Certified teacher. Samahita has always been a welcoming, transformative space for her and in early 2016 she was grateful to fully embrace this magical place and call it home.
